Believe women.

We go to such ridiculous lengths to protect white men. Just think of what could happen if we took only a percentage of that and actually protected women FROM them.

As this Kavanaugh hearing proceeds, I am increasingly furious. It’s a slap in the face to every woman who has lived and it reaffirms the shit we deal with every day: Being gaslit into thinking that since it happened long ago that it doesn’t matter, thinking back to our past and recognizing that the boys who hurt us get to go off and live normal lives, adults making excuses for teenage boys while young girls listen to the reality that their experiences and safety doesn’t matter, and watching our government continue to willfully undermine and damage women...

It’s both liberating and infuriating to be a woman who intentionally looks behind the curtain of patriarchy. Because on the one hand, what you don’t know can and will hurt you, while on the other, once you leave that proverbial cave you can’t turn back to the shadows on the wall. Instead your new daily existence is to fight and learn to manage your expectations of men, society, and your reality.

Take care of yourselves this week, friends. This is going to be rough.
